One of the main challenges of the jobs market in the digital revolution is the growing gap between the limited supply of people with technology skills and the growing demand for candidates to fill this sort of positions. To find a solution, all of the stakeholders must get involved, from the administration to universities, training centres and companies.
The session approaches the topic from a business perspective, discussing how reskilling can have an impact on this scarcity of qualified candidates by giving current employees the skills the organisation needs. The training centres will also explain the areas of knowledge and key skills new professionals need in today’s market.
Steve Boese, an international expert in Human Resources, will present the opportunities for global talent management, offer points of view from the US market and propose a way to anticipate the new needs of a digitalised market.
Pipo Serrano is a radio, television and digital journalist. He has led strategies and digital transformations in large editorial teams and media outlets, incorporating new narratives and digital coverage. He has also worked in Mobile Journalism (Mojo), an area where he is one of the pioneers in Spain. He has been recognised by the 2018 European Digital Mindset Awards with the prize for Best Journalistic Work on Digital Transformation.
The author of two books on digital transformation and mojos, he is a professor of digital journalism in the BCN-NY Master’s in Journalism run jointly by the University of Barcelona and the Columbia Journalism School. He is also an associate professor at New Haven University, where he teaches digital journalism to US American students in Barcelona.
Adrià Baqués occupies the General Manager position at Ironhack, the leading technology school in the Spanish market and the second worldwide. In addition, he works as a Mentor for Start-ups in the Connector and Bcombinator accelerators.
Baqués is a graduate in Business Administration and Management and Master of Science in Finance from ESADE, where he serves as a Mentor to students of Masters of Science and MBAs.

He also created and co-hosts the popular podcast the “HR Happy Hour Show”, which is the most downloaded Human Resources podcast since its inception in 2009 and in 2017 launched the “HR Happy Hour Show on Alexa”, the first Human Resources podcast for Amazon Alexa-enabled devices.
Laura Carnicero is Training and Development Manager and Principal Escuela de Aprendices (Apprentice School) at SEAT. Her position includes being in charge of developing and training all personnel at SEAT, as well as establishing and introducing Formación Profesional Dual (Dual Vocation Training), based on the German model for new staff at the company.
With more than 20 years’ experience, she almost developed her whole professional career at SEAT and occupied different managing positions within/at the Production, Product and HR department.
As Principal, SEAT’s school imparted an advanced degree on Industry 4.0 and technology evolution related to digitalisation, as well as a course on programming language through gamification.
Laura Carnicero has a PhD on Advanced Industrial Engineer (Suma Cum Laude) at Universitat Politènica de Catalunya (Polytechnic University of Catalonia).
With over 25 years of experience in Human Resources, Silvia Ciurana works as Director of Recruitment and Development at CaixaBank.
She began her career in the Marketing area of an automotive multinational but was soon attracted to the challenges of developing the team’s potential, assuming a number of roles, including a formative and influential phase as Director of Human Resources at the Banking Foundation “La Caixa”.
She graduated from the University of Barcelona and has an MBA from ESADE, Ciurana is also an Executive Coach certified by the ICF. She currently combines her position at CaixaBank with her teaching nuance, acting as a teacher for the Master in Human Resources of the Pompeu Fabra University.
